President Benigno Aquino III’s SONA will focus on gains and plans with “undisputed facts and figures” come Monday as reported by various local news sites, July 24, 2011.
As reported, Malacañang said Saturday that PNoy’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday will be expected to tackle only “undisputed facts and figures” and the “overarching themes” of his administration’s accomplishments and his intended actions for next year.
As noted in the report, House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. said that “While we await a clear national direction from the President, we in Congress will continue policy reforms already set during the 2010 SONA.”
PNoy’s deputy spokesperson Abigail Valte was quoted in the report as saying, “Let us remember that President Aquino was elected in 2010 because of his promise of his anticorruption program among our priorities. And he will show what we have done to fulfill that promise in the year or so that he has been in office.”
“[T]he President will also discuss where he wants to take us in a year’s time,” she adds.
Apparently, Valte said that it is still unclear if the former president and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will be at the SONA.
Valte further reveals in the report that PNoy’s SONA will be in Filipino and that an official English translation will be made available to news organizations that use the English language.
