Fernando Alonso claims victory for Ferrari, first this season, in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone as reported by international news sites, July 10, 2011.

It was reported that, world champion and race leader, Sebastian Vettel made a poor pit stop which gave way for Alonso to capitalize on the opportunity and eventually win giving Italy’s Ferrari its first win since last year's Korean Grand Prix in October.

Reports reveal that Vettel finish second, while Red Bull teammate Mark Webber trails him at third.

As noted, the fourth spot was occupied by Briton Lewis Hamilton, 2008 world champion, who figured in a wheel-to-wheel battle with the other Ferrari of Felipe Massa.

Further report reveals that Vettel leads the race up until the 25th lap when pit crews struggled to fit his left-rear tire during a pit stop which gave the opportunity for the Spaniard Alonso to capture the lead and eventually win the race.

As Alonso was quoted in the report, "I saw the problem in the pit stop with Sebastian and we were in the lead at that moment, but who knows what might have happened after that.”

"I knew it was a race to be calm, make no mistakes, to not be off the track, and with that I knew the car had enough for victory and it came,” he adds.
