Derek Jeter, shortstop for the New York Yankees made a milestone by getting his 3,000 career hit making him the 28th man in major league history to do so as reported in various sports news sites, July 10, 2011.
As reported, Derek Jeter’s feat came in the third inning as he hit a 3-2 curveball by Rays starter David Price.
Apparently, after seeing the ball leave the park, Jeter was quoted as saying in the report, "To be honest with you, I was pretty relieved.”
It was revealed that Jeter is the first Yankee to have accumulated 3,000 career hits and is the second in baseball history to make the milestone with a homerun.
